Self Harm & Ligature Training



This is a specialist course so will be taught by qualified trainers. They will deliver the “ASIST course-Applied Suicide Intervention Skill Training”

Mental health is a broad term that include:

– Depression and anxiety
– Suicide and psychosis
– Self harm and eating disorders

Other topics covered include, child adolescent development, bullying inc. cyber bullying, substance misuse and promoting protective factors and good parenting.

This is a full day and for the 6 hours training the course will include the following:

– How to spot the early signs of  mental health problems in young people
– Feeling confident helping a young person experiencing a problem
– Provide help on a first aid basis
– Help protect a young person who might be at risk of harm
– Help prevent a mental health illness from getting worse
– Helping a young person recover faster
– Guide a young person towards the right support
– Reduce the stigma of mental health problems

We also train staff in safe and effective techniques when rescuing a person from ligature (hanging). This consists of a practical session that involves the practical practice of rescuing a person.

Certification:  All delegates will be awarded a certificate of attendance
